- The L.L.Bean™ 8″ GORE-TEX®/Thinsulate™ Bean Boots are made with a full grain leather upper and waterproof rubber which sheds rain and snow, keeping feet dry and comfortable. Constructed in a timeless silhouette, the duck boots feature a lace up closure with a pull tab at the back for easy on-and-off wear.
NOTE: Bean Boots have a unique fit; you may need to size up or down.
• With light or midweight socks: Whole sizes, order one size down. Half sizes, order 1½ size down. Example: 9 or 9½, order a size 8.
• With heavyweight socks: Whole sizes, order one size up. Half sizes, order one size up. Example: 9 or 9½, order a size 10. - Signature duck boots are treated with the water-resistant protection you need in cold, wet weather.

Very well made boots, however, they fit very loosely at the top around my lower shins. I can easily fit three fingers between my sock and the inside of the collar. This allows the top of the boot to bump and rub against my shin and it is very irritating. If the collar were padded it would fit snugly and not cause irritation.

Best winter shoe ever. Add 1 1/2 sizes due to it running large. I wear a 10.5 W and ordered a 9W and fit perfectly.

I own the other version. They weren’t warm enough. This version with the insulating Gore-Tex is very warm. Great for the mountains and ski vacation.

One size smaller fits great. I was a little worried that the goretex liner fit too tight in the store and felt slightly narrow but it stretches to perfect fit after a day. Love that I can drive and run quick errands without having to tie them.

I bought size 10 and normally wear a 10 1/2 or 11 , and these fit perfectly with enough room for heavier sock if i need it.
They were surprisingly comfortable and so easy to slip on and off without bending over to grab them, i seldom even tie them.
The gortex and thinsulate lining are a definite plus!

LL Bean delievers a execllent quality boot made in Maine that will last me at least 20-30 years of heavy use in the winter season. I will be using these boots for the snow and the cold. 2. ***Sizing***If the sizing of the “original unlined style Bean Boot” is an issue (“medium size” too small and “wide size” too big) then try these “Gore-Tex Thinsulate” boots in the “wide size”instant fit! *Assuming you don’t mind a little more insulation/warmth while being waterproof.
3. Immediately comfortable with little to no break-in period. Game changer boot!
