Not sure why I waited so long to order these but I am very happy that I did. These boots are much lighter in weight and yet they keep your feet dry & warm.

A few features of note:
They run large. I am typically a size 6 and these are loose. I can easily wear 2 pairs of thick socks. The lower (rubber area) is NOT insulated on the interior. The upper is a soft tumbled leather and the tongue separates from the boot (this can allow snow to get inside easier), unlike the traditional Bean Boots which have an attached tongue and are stiffer in the ankle. The flannel lining gives light insulation in the upper. If you want insulation around your toes, go with the original boot. Be aware the sizing differs. The equivalent size in the original for me is a size 4 kids. It has a snugger fit due to the insulation. I’d say these boots are best for a moderately chilly fall day or quick errands in winter. They’re not a heavy duty winter boot that will keep you warm in heavy snow.

LL BEAN CHAMOIS-LINED 8″ BOOTS: BEAUTIFUL, DURABLE, Tumbled leather upper is SOFT and LOVELY! SUPER EXCELLENT HIGH QUALITY BOOTS – VERY PRETTY AND VERY PRACTICAL TOO! DURABILITY: Excellent – we have horses and land with rugged rocky mountain terrain. I wear Bean boots 365 days of year! YES every single day! Surprisingly durable! WATERPROOF: Completely waterproof in wet winter storms! Horse corrale is very sloppy wet and muddy in rainstorms. Horses happy in barn, but mucking uncovered corrale is a huge job in the rain. ALL goes well in these WATERPROOF Bean boots! I rinse with tap water after mucking corrale – color stays very beautiful with repeated wear. No loss of color! SOFT: The tumbled leather uppers are VERY SOFT and function well with a good sock too. SIZING: I am 8.5 in regular shoes. My Bean boots are ALWAYS SIZE 9 as I prefer the medium weight Cresta Wool 1/4 sock inside. I only buy Bean boots with tumbled leather uppers. Bean boots with tumbled leather uppers (and the 8″ flannel lined boot) fit a little smaller than the 6″ hard leather Bean boots. I cannot wear the regular hard leather Bean boots – tried but leather is way too stiff). These BEAUTIFUL CHAMOIS-LINED BEAN BOOTS (NOTE: SOFT tumbled leather upper is chamois-lined, not the rubber boot area) are a SIZE 9 and are perfect so that I have room for good sock and roomy comfort. Not healthy to have snug shoes! Need wiggle room for healthy feet! SUMMER HEAT: Yes I wear these Bean boots in scorching Summer heat too! Bean boots protect my feet from rocky terrain and occasional rattlesnakes too. SUMMARY: This Chamois-Lined Bean (with the flannel lining in upper only) is a VERY FLEXIBLE 8″ Bean boot and has a SOFT, LOVELY tumbled leather upper! Very comfortable yet BOTH SOFT and VERY DURABLE and yes VERY PRETTY TOO! Wear all year 365 days here! 8.5 sizes advise size UP to size 9 with medium thick wool sock. I do not size down on tumbled leather upper Bean boots.

The perfect bean boot! I originally ordered another LLBean bean boot, one with more flair, but I ended up replacing it for this one because you can’t just go wrong with the classic.
