It says water resistant, but I walked 40 minutes in moderate rain and the coat beaded up and repelled water, keeping me dry and comfortable. I wear it over my down 850 sweater for my winter coat. Looks stylish as well for dinner out.
Merrill –
extraordinary rain jacket and probably a wind breaker ….it will be made available for both

The jacket was very small for an XL, and in particular, very short. The waist drawstring (where the upper lining ends) fell at the bottom of my ribs. In addition, the “slightly fitted” “feature” makes the jacket useless for layering.

I wasn’t sure whether to buy this version or the one that’s slightly cheaper and completely unlined. Glad I got this one. Comfortable, great for days when a fleece-lined grab jacket is too warm, good for light rain and layering. What I like about it is it has plenty of pockets and an inner drawstring, like an Army field jacket. Good for carrying stuff, even a pistol in these terribly fraught and uncertain days. A great and versatile light jacket that’s quickly become my favorite.

I bought this as a gift for my partner and he loves it. It’s lightweight, but just warm enough for those spring/fall days when it’s still too cool to venture out without throwing on an extra layer. There’s also room to wear a hoodie underneath. He wore it in some drizzly rain and the water beaded up on the fabric, which was exactly what we were hoping it would do. He’s a tall size and the length is perfect. The color and cut makes him look sharp!

It is a light weight, but warm jacket for early Spring’s colder weather. I’ll be taking this on a northern EU cruise for cooler evenings.

Just the perfect spring / fall coat. It’s comfortable and light.

I took this coat to Iceland for a week at the end of May under variable conditions from warm to literally glacial. I wore it over a jersey, wool shirt, and sweater. It blocked 98% of the wind blowing off the glacier and all of the misty rain so my layers could keep me warm. When it was warmer, the layers went in the day pack and the coat still kept me comfortable. In a downpour, it kept me dry but after 10 minutes it was beginning to get damp. It dried quickly under a poncho. It was sturdy enough for outside activities and dressy enough to go out to dinner. Conditions in Iceland change rapidly and I was impressed with this coat’s performance and adaptability. I got it in large instead of medium so that I could layer. This was a good decision

Everything I was looking for. Great material . Warm also and keeps rain and snow out.

Great raincoat which fits very comfortably, and packs well for those days needed on a vacation.

This jacket is so great, after I purchased myself one my husband said he had to have one, too! Now we both have it and love it. Versatile for many seasons and types of weather. Light, but warm when it needs to be. Best jacket I’ve found at LL Bean so far!
DCBII –
This jacket is great! I was not looking for a technical shell. Rather, I was looking for a comfortable Fall and Spring full zip coat with some insulation, some water resistance, a hood, and ideally mountain styling. I had in mind an old 60/40 mountain parka I owned years ago. I was pleased to find this jacket and I immediately ordered it. It is exactly what I was looking for. Yes, as some others have mentioned, I would like it even better if it was made of 60/40 cloth, but the exterior is not “plasticky” and it feels great. I already am looking forward to the cool weather to wear it!

It is a lot of coat for the price & it looks great!

I was a senior in HS when I rec’d my 1st LL Bean parka, when the lining was mostly wool. It lasted 10yrs, through under & postgraduate school and the 1st 5yrs of my career, & I ordered another in navy blue as it goes with everything. From the Velcro adjustable cuffs and drawstring waist, hood and hem, this parka is made to keep you warm and the wind out. Made with room for a sweater, it’s perfect for fall football games @ SU to watch the Orangemen. Since ’84, I’ve bought 4, last August being my most recent. Timeless, quality materials, skilled seamstresses, and the LL Bean warranty provides added peace of mind. I recommend to all. Perfect amount of wool in the lining which stops just above my beltline. Keeps my torso warm spring & fall, with a button down oxford and v-neck sweater, it’s warm November to March. Great compliment to my LL Bean warm-up 3-season jacket that I wear with jean cut chinos aka hybrid jeans.

Only slightly water resistant. Soaked through in first usage.
