Really digging the Ultralight 850 Down Jacket. Lightweight and warm, zippers seem strong, pockets are nice and deep. The fit is different from the down sweater, roomier without being bulky, so if you’re looking to layer, this is the better down jacket for you.

Love the waterproof qualities and insulative value. The fit at the hem could be looser for pear shaped women. Do not like the fact the the inside chest pocket: it is on the right side, which is awkward for right handed people, the majority of which we are.

I finally knuckled under & purchased one of the 2020’s version of the down jacket. A friend had bought one of a different brand & she raved about the characteristics. Being a long-time LL Bean customer, I looked at this one and it checks off all my boxes. It is super light, warm and windproof, and it doesn’t ride up when I sit down. I have a regular torso, not long or short, and the jacket comes just down past my rear. It fits well & looks tailored. I think it would be a little snug if I wore a bulky sweater beneath it, so I will stick with thinner layers. I definitely recommend this jacket!

Originally ordered Regular Large which is a size I have ordered other jackets. It was to snug with just a shirt. A regular extra large would be too big. I noticed on the size chart the main difference between the Regular large and Petite extra large was more room in the chest. The petite extra large is perfect.
I have a 3 in 1 LLBEAN rain jacket with a light lining. My plan is to remove the linning and wear 850 down with the rain jacket on colder rainy days. The 850 down fits perfectly with the rain jacket without a bulky look.

This jacket is ightweight yet warm. I also own this 850 series in a full-length version. The fit is very good but a bit snug in the hips. My full-length 850 (of the same size) has a better fit.

Lightweight, compressible, and perfect as a “just in case” outer layer to take camping or traveling when you don’t need a full parka. Based on other reviews, I ordered a size larger than I usually might to be sure that it fit my hips. That was a good call. I know it will be roomy enough to layer over a sweater or sweatshirt. The ‘crimson’ color looks as pictured; I would call it a burgundy.

The fit is on point, the various closures are ideal and and the color (purple) is spectacular. I am 5’2″, 125 lbs and I bought a medium. Fits well with room for a sweater beneath. I highly recommend this jacket.
