I wanted to review the warmth of the parka. It has been about -5 degrees below zero this week. I have gone out daily in my parka and have felt toasty. With a sweater underneath it is extremely warm. It has provided excellent warmth and protection against the cold and rain.
The only negative is that the zipper teeth do not last.

My husband loves this jacket. Comfortable. Plenty of pockets. Longer in the back. Really warm with layers.

“This is a Christmas present, so my husband does not actually have it yet. However, he has another Rugged Ridge Parka that is sadly showing the signs of wear. It is at least twenty years old. He loves this jacket and wears it while “snowblowing” the driveway. We live in Maine, so it can be very cold in the winter.

Coat fit well and is very warm and comfortable. I was looking specifically for a winter coat in the color blue that was light weight and wind proof. Coat is well made and keeps me comfortable in below zero Wisconsin weather this week, with windchills being even deeper below zero. Zipper works well, which is another plus for me. Very happy with purchase.

(IMO) Low Quality Zipper Makes Jacket Useless
We bought the Rugged Ridge Parka for my son for a ski trip late in January and it started to break after just two days. We thought the zipper was suspect when the coat arrived from LLBean as the cheap plastic feel seemed out of line with the quality build of the rest of the coat. But for us, LLBean was synonymous with quality, and I figured they knew how to build a coat.
After just two days the zipper stopped functioning as normal as it started to separate from the bottom when zipped. Soon after that, it started to separate from the top too. Finally, it jammed and would zip neither up nor down, preferring to stay stuck in the middle.
After reading reviews I’ve learned that other customers have had this same problem and raised it with LL Bean before they sold coat. I think LLBean can and should do better and I will be seeking a full refund for this product.

Best parka I’ve ever bought. Love the relaxed fit. There’s an extra hidden cuff in the sleeve to keep snow out. Great quality, very comfortable. Not so bulky that I can’t drive in it. Definitely recommend it.

Just purchased in July so no practical use yet. Appears to be made to high standards expected of Bean clothing. The zipper is two way but that is not mentioned in description or specs. Fit is great. Really like the high collar, expect it will keep out cold winds coming in three months. Glad I purchased.

Great and comfortable parka! Seems warm (although I will have to test it out in the upcoming Maine winter to know for sure), and the ties used to adjust around the wrists and waist ensure no cold air leakage.

I packed my Rugged Ridge Parka with my gear for a trip to summit Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in August 2022. Summit temperature was -18 degrees C (-0.4 degrees F) before wind chill in the howling wind and I was toasty warm. (Yes, dear reader of this review, I did wear layers.)
