Marianna –
I bought these boots right before a trip out west. I knew we would be doing some hiking so I wanted something that was comfortable with a high ankle. I worried wearing new boots on a 10 mile hike was a terrible idea, but I had absolutely no problems! Definitely recommend!

My previous hiking boot was an LLBean model that lasted 7 years. Excellent durability. I tried a different brand as a replacement and sadly that didn't mold to my feet even after a month's break-in time. Returned them and am happy to be back in my favorite, most comfortable boot. The wide width really makes my feet smile. I've hiked in Horicon Marsh, walked multiple times in the rain this fall and took the boots to Thailand in the rainy season. The boots have kept my feet dry except when high rushing waters came up over their tops. I've learned my lesson, stick to what works and I'm glad to be able to count on LLBean for comfort, durability, and dry feet.

For the first time in over a year I can wear these boots and not have pain while walking! True to the word they are waterproof and rugged enough for trails.

I have worn once so far with crampons at a snowy and icy park with sandstone cliffs and ledges. I had some rubbing on front of right leg above ankle, which quickly softened up and I felt great after a long afternoon of climbing and hiking. Attractive boots, sturdy but relatively light weight. I love them!

I really wanted waterproof boots to prepare for a hiking trip to Ireland next spring. Living in CA, where it does not rain at this time of year, I have not yet tested the waterproofing feature. On the positive side, these shoes fit my feet very well with mid-weight hiking socks: no discomfort at all on my feet. But my ankles and shins have gotten quite sore. After 1 or 2 hikes on varied terrain up and down hills, I purchased some ankle covers (Zentoes ankle bone protection sleevesee photo) to go under my hiking socks, and this helped with the ankle area, but my shins at the point where the boot meets the leg were still sore as I hiked yesterday, and today, the day after the hike, my shins have red marks (see photo). I have only gone on about three hikes so far, so I have some hope the shoes may break in after a few more hikes.

Loved the color and style but even the wide was restrictive in the toe box. I couldn’t imagine hiking in them.

I ordered the Wide D width and these were so narrow that even with a thin sock they squeezed my foot. I couldn’t comfortably walk around my house let alone go hiking. In addition, the insoles in these boots had no arch support and were pancake flat with little cushioning. Hello hiking shoe designers, people wear thicker cushioned hiking socks and this mean that the toe boxes for wide hiking boots need to be designed much wider than the toe box for street shoes to accommodate the thicker sock. After trying 6 different companies women’s “wide” hiking boots I bought Merrell men’s hiking boot in regular width which had a wide enough toe box to accommodate my foot and a hiking sock. Not an ideal fit as the heel of the boot is a bit too wide which I feel is the downside of a woman’s foot in a man’s shoe. On the one plus side they were decent looking, but not much help for utility.

Tried on with a hiking sock, it was too narrow. Hiking boot manufacturers don’t seem to take account that thick cushioned socks are worn with a hiking boot.Thick socks occupy space in the foot bed. All “wide” women’s hiking boots I tried (10 different styles, multiple brands) had this problem. I’ve now gone to mens hiking boots to get the correct width. Not ideal as men’s heels are a bit wider. No arch support and insoles were almost pancake flat with little cushioning.

These boots have been my snow boots, hiking boots, and every day winter boot. I have poor arches, and these boots support my feet well. I also have orthopedic/nerve conditions (scoliosis, osteoarthritis, sciatica), and I’m able to walk without pain from the boots. These boots work so well for me, anatomically speaking for both my back and feet, that I’m investing in another pair. The SAME bootand they last long. I bought mine in 2018 or 2019, and they’ve even withstood recovery from a flood disaster in 2021 from Hurricane Ida (see pic)!!

Shoe wasnāt wide enough across the foot.

Boot comfortable from Day#1. My shoe size is 7 narrow but for hiking with liner and wool sock, a 7 1/2 Medium gave the best comfort fit. Have had one year. Never a blister nor rash. Excellent ankle support. Solid and overall supportive boot. Have hiked through mud and puddles, waterproofing works! Easy clean off when wet. Love the boots, prefer to wear even when walking distances. Attractive style.

These boots are so comfortable. They’re terrific for long walks and hiking since they’re not exceptionally heavy like some hiking boots can be. My only criticism (and it’s a small one) is that the ridges on the bottom of the boot catch many pebbles. I take them off before I get into my house to knock the pebbles out. Otherwise I have only good things to say about these. I actually own 2 pairs in different colors.
Jan P –
Definitely comfortable right out the box. Colors are nice but who cares! Comfort is key! The arch is just right, heel has nice support, and love the flexibility in the step! I’ve gone around and tried other brands that were like “are you kidding” compared to Bean’s! My daughter is also going to get a pair. I’m ready to hit a trail!
Laurie –
Purchased these boots and very excited about fit and quality.
Danielle B –
The width fit nicely. I will be wearing these for many hikes.
Mfreeze –
Good fit, lightweight and comfortable. Great value for the money.
Dcota22 –
Wore them on a 5 mile, 2000 foot hike and they did awesome! No blisters or anything
Naomi A –
Best pair of hiking boots I’ve ever had! Can’t wait to hit the trail in these along with my womens camp capris!
Sharon –
They fit well. Are very comfortable. And no break in time was needed.
Vhd48 –
Love these good-looking hiking shoes! Very pleased to get the wide width to ease my bunions and the shoes fit my feet well right out of the box. Had gone for a small hike, my ankles were well- supported by the height of the shoes.
Klaudia –
I love these hiking boots. This is my second pair, I have the orange and brown ones and couldn’t wait to get my hands on this color. The previous one carried me through many years and it was time to retire them after many many miles. Recently took these up Mt.Whitney with a pair of Darn Tuff socks and couldn’t have done any better. I hike often, dirt and rocky terrains, and haven’t had issues. They keep the water out pretty well, unless you’re walking in a stream for 10miles (wouldn’t advise).
Elizabeth –
They feel broken in already! I frequently use mine for heavy work in the yard – moving rocks and dirt in wheelbarrows. I am happy with my new boots.
Helkel –
Very comfortable, very well made, great fit, great price, can’t go wrong with them, would definitely buy again
Raae –
Great boot, didn’t have to break in. I walk 2 miles everyday with dog.grass is always wet in a.m. my socks are dry. Doesn’t hurt my ankle on the first walk.
Kimmi –
I love the way they look and was able to hike in them on my first wearing.
