These have been perfectly comfortable since the moment I purchased them. Great shoe! Fit perfectly right out of the box. However, if you want to keep the nubuck look…don’t use shoe polish or any waterproofing paste. If you do, the nubuck will disappear and you’ll be left with a plain leatherlooking shoe. Also, the thin sole lasted about 1 year and three months – LLBean would not replace or repair. very disappointed about that

I was looking for a new work shoe that permitted me to go from home to the car to the office without any worries about what the weather looks like. I also live in mid-state New York in the US, so we see a bit of snow (probably 10 to 12 feet over the course of the winter). These shoes took a moment to get used to coming from a more formal pair of office work shoes, but they’ve come together very well with my work outfit. But, the most important piece of information, they’ve been phenomenal with the weather so far. One of my concerns is the walk from home to the car to the office in the rain or snow (sometimes ice), and I’ve had the ability to test these out in rain and snow, both times with my feet staying nice and warm while I had stability to walk.
They are a nice brown that goes well with most clothes and colors. They do feel like they come up a little bit higher than most oxford type shoes (and add probably an inch to your height). With the times I’ve work them in the rain and snow, I’ve noticed no feeling of moisture from the elements. They also seem to dry pretty quickly. I have not tested them in ice yet, but I’m not sure how they will hold up. The tread has kind of a wave pattern, so it might not grip the ice super well as there’s less surface area contact and clearly no digging in with anything.
All in all, a solid choice for a nice work shoe that can hold up in rain and snow (and, hopefully, ice).

After trying on several like shoes, I selected the Stonington for my only shoes I was taking on a cruise where I needed a very versatile shoe. I just returned from a week cruise to Alaska. We walked just over 40 miles during the week which is a lot lot more than I usually walk. The shoe held up wonderfully and brushed up nice for dinner. I don’t think they are quite as comfortable as a tennis shoe but overall they did well. I am tsa precheck but the shoestend to set off the scanners for some reason… Maybe the brass eyelets. As others have stated, the shoes tend to come untied more than they should. But overall I still rate them excellent. I do believe L L should change the laces.

I’ve worn these for about a week now. The shoe overall is amazing. The only two things I could even think of as not amazing would be the laces and how easily bumps and scuffs show on the leather. with the laces, they tend to do their own thing when not tied, there have been a couple times I’ve had to feed the laces a good 4 inches one way or the other to center them for proper tying. With that there’s a tendency to tie too tightly due to the slippage, which in turn tends to hurt the top of your foot. I recommend thicker laces, or tighter eyelets. But otherwise, an excellent shoe!
