I was and have been very disappointed when LL Bean cancelled the Slightly Fitted Unshrinkable Tee. The traditional fit is too large for my slim frame and I was unable to find a suitable substitute until now. This Explorer Slub Tee is a relatively new product and does come in Slightly Fitted. I have found it very similar to the Unshrinkable Tee fit wise. The fabric is different…cotton and polyester, but it feels more like a substantial cotton. The neck has some elasticitly to it. I have awarded it 4 stars instead of 5, only because it’s too early to assess how it will stand up. There was slight shrinkage after the first wash and dry cycle, but that only made it a better fit for me.

This shirt looks great, feels great and it even has a pocket. I waited to wash it before this review, and after washing and drying it in the delicate cycle there was NO shrinkage It’s a keepah!

As I write this, I see the product is no longer in the catalog. That’s probably just as well. Although the fabric is nice (soft, lightweight), the cut is very small. I have several “Carefree” tees; this one is much tighter through the shoulders, the arm holes and sleeves are tiny, and the tail is 2 – 3″ shorter than my other LL Bean tees in the same size (LT). Perhaps it is a case of mis-labelling. I understand that such things can happen. However, I’ve stopped buying other once-trusted brands because of poor quality control. After being a customer for almost 50 years, it would be ashame to see LL Bean go down that same road.
