I really wanted to love these, because I have one that I've had for 18 or 20 years and it's held up amazingly well. It's never had a problem with pilling, it's kept its shape, and got me through a few Montana winters at a time when I couldn't afford much high tech stuff. Unfortunately, like so much other LL Bean clothing anymore, this is not designed to fit in a sensible way. I'm 5'11" and 170 lbs, which usually works out to be a snug medium and a size 40 jacket. As Seinfeld said – my size is really "extra medium". I got these in medium tall, knowing that I wanted the extra length to stay tucked in. Sadly, these new henleys are cut larger than my size large sweatshirts and sweaters. In fact, the arm holes are over 12 inches top to bottom at the shoulder…12 inches! That's bigger than the arm hole on many of my coats, and actually bigger than the leg opening on most of my pants. Are these shirts intended to be worn as a top layer, over my shirt, fleece, and shell? What a shame, because the material and construction seemed otherwise pretty decent, and the waist was surprisingly reasonable. Sizing is a total shot in the dark with anything LLB anymore. It's pure luck if the measurements of what I buy are anything close to what's listed on the site (if anything is even listed), and as a result I have ended up returning my purchases at a very high rate. Well, at least they make it easy to do that.

These are probably the best henleys I have found – true to fit and extremely warm. Received one as a gift, had to buy another and will probably buy more.

This is the perfect shirt for around the house, if you keep it cool, or as a layer under a jacket. It is not as heavy as a sweater but nearly as warm. I bought one, and after wearing a week, I bought another.
Banjo B –
I love Henley’s & Bean products are top ranked. This is a bit heavier and warmer, should work great on the trail or today with the banjo by the wood fire. The longer very tight cuffs are a plus & the dark cherry heather looks nice. As stated. No Dryer! Air Dry.

I have several of these shirts so it goes without saying that I like the product. Shirts do not shrink and hold up season after season.
LL Bean could add to the color assortment. And crewneck style would be a nice alternative, too.

Great fit, very comfortable. Love the way it feels!

I have been wearing these shirts since the 1960's. Unlike many products from 50 years ago these shirts are still as good as ever, absolutely love them. LLBean quality is legendary, second to none. I will continue wearing these shirts as long as I am on the sunny side of the Grass !

It’s warm and the black color makes you look thinner. Lol
Deb717 –
The men in my family love these shirts. I have bought more than a few and they love them!
Susan –
This shirt is the exact mix of wool and cotton to be comfortable in a house that is either drafty or in which the temperature is turned low to avoid outrageous NIPSCO bills.
Wolfie –
The quality of the shirt is amazing it’s nice and heavy and comfortable and will keep you very warm

I used the Zappos āShareā function to send this item to my daughter for my birthday gift. She bought it and I am rating it. By the way Zappos, you should include the itemās selected color and size information on the āShareā item. This River driver shirt is great in all ways. The size I picked, (M), matched my shirt size and fit perfectly. The material has a wonderful feel. L.L.Bean makes great products. I recently received six different L.L.Bean items for birthday and Christmas gifts, and they all were well made and looked great on.
Bailey05 –
Small fits me because I’m a slender woman (though shoulders are a bit wide). LL Bean used to have a women’s version of this shirt (I still have my old, old one) and the company should consider bringing it back. Otherwise, great shirt!
Woody –
Been wearing them working in the Maine forest for thirty plus years. Warm and comfortable.
Kevin –
A good looking comfortable casual pullover for lounging relaxing or playing indoor sports such as billiards.

Looking for a warm stylish shirt that goes well with khaki, jeans, and grays? This one is it. My husband loves it.
Lotrlvr –
fit as expected, really enjoy long rib-knit cuffs, customer service did a great job correcting shipping error
Rick D –
great shirts * really warm * wearing them for over 15 years in the Northeast

Dear LL, a month or so ago I ordered one riverdriver shirt. Being so pleased with the fit and comfort I ordered two more identical riverdriver shirts. That in a nutshell should tell you how I feel about my riverdriver shirt(s). But wait, there’s more. I purchased my first riverdriver shirt from you in 1991 and I’m so happy that it’s still available.
Thank you
Destonio –
Love this shirt in green so much I immediately purchased a navy one. I love the fit.
ASL4 –
Because if you do, this is your shirt. The single most uncomfortable garment I’ve ever bought, and washing it only seems to make it worse. My Christmas LLB binge-buy was otherwise great, but this item is a loser.
Rickdas –
My favorite shirt for the wintertime. Love the cotton.wool blend.
5 Stars
Jabubet –
You can still count on the quality of the river driver shirt. Made in Canada, as they have always been. Nice and warm!

I have over half a dozen of these and my favorites are wearing out. I want to replace them, but I don’t find the color that used to be available. Are they still made in what was called oatmeal?
