Want a versatile layer that can be worn on its own or over a light t-shirt? Are you looking for something that is casual but can also do double duty and be worn to the office? I think this pullover is an answer; I have two of these, striped and the light mint green, both of which are perfect from early spring into late summer here in New England or in the Midwest. The pique fabric is light and breathable, comfortable and soft. The raised collar may be something that you have to get used to but I think it adds a little something to the shirt. Perhaps most importantly, the fit! I find LL Bean shirts to be fairly boxy and generously sized, that may work for many but often times it doesn’t for me. I’m 6’2″ and 170lbs, tall and thin so in this shirt I wear a Medium tall and it fits perfectly, the regular medium (my striped version) is on the very edge of being short in the sleeves. For comparison, in terms of sizes, I typically wear Bonobos and J Crew shirts in a size Large Slim fit. Honestly, these are great shirts, with shorts, jeans, chinos, it doesn’t matter, they’re comfortable and in typical LL Bean fashion they launder well and don’t shrink.

First, I bought this shirt to wear as a woman and I bought it in the Men’s Dept. because they had more of the stand-up collar style than Women’s. The material is wonderful but thicker than I thought – so maybe not the best for Summer – but will be great in the Fall. Excellent quality – excellent fit – and feels exquisite on. I would recommend this highly!
